Join a Committee

Equitable School Supplies
Coordinates with the administration to compile lists of what each teacher needs for their classroom for the entire year and purchases supplies in bulk at a discount for ALL students and teachers. This team receives shipments, unpacks and organizes supplies by classroom and distributes each students' necessary supplies to their classroom for the beginning of the school year. Replenishments happen throughout the year when requested by staff. These supplies are for all grades.
Fundraising
Raises money for the school to help support the enrichment programs offered to the students. The committee plans and organizes various fundraisers throughout the school year. Some examples include: Picture Day, Carnival, Magic Show, Plant Sale, and Read-a-Thon.
Social Events
Plans, prepares, and hosts an assortment of social events throughout the year for the entire school. Our mission is to promote fun, friendship, family, and the spirit of community. Examples include: movie nights, the Someone Special Dance, ice cream socials, and the popular Multicultural Potluck.
Garden
Maintains the PS166Q school garden, cleaning, planting and watering the garden year round. The garden is full of local plants that attract and provides home for local birds and bug life, all funded through the PTA and grants. The Garden Committee is also dedicated to facilitating projects that involve teachers and students in the garden, i.e.: kindergarten classrooms have received butterfly release kits in the past and 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders get to help plant and maintain the garden.

Enrichment
Brings fun and learning to the all students of PS166Q! The Committee coordinates hands-on learning booster programs to complement school curriculum and expose kids to something new and exciting.
Grants
Supports the PS166Q administration, the PTA, and the teachers by securing funding for enrichment programs, school enhancement initiatives, and classroom projects to enhance the experience of our students. Some of our recent projects include funding to upgrade the auditorium, enrichment programs for various grades, and supplies for the garden. Communications
Spreads the word about the activities of the PTA to all its members! The Committee designs social media graphics, event flyers, posters, banners, and more. The Committee coordinates with Class Parents and school staff to make sure that all PTA info is shared with members in a timely fashion. The Committee also makes sure information is up to date on the PTA website.
Auction
Since 2014, the PTA has been holding an auction each Spring to raise funds for enrichment programming at PS166Q. It’s been our most successful fundraising event. Auction Night has been a great opportunity for parents to mingle and bid on amazing donations from our community members and businesses. Donations include restaurant and salon/spa gift certificates, special gift baskets created by each class, and memberships to local museums.
